Edwards, part of the Atlas Copco group, is a leading developer and manufacturer of sophisticated vacuum products, abatement solutions and related value-added services. Our products are used within a range of industrial processes, including power generation, glass and other coating applications, steel and other metallurgy, pharmaceutical and chemical. These products enable manufacturing processes for semiconductors, flat panel displays, LEDs and solar cells and are at the heart of many scientific instruments and a wide range of R&D activities.
Edwards created the concept of the low-maintenance, cost-effective, commercial oil-free 'dry' vacuum pump and offers a wide range of other pumping technologies, and related products, supported by an international sales and service organisation.
Manufacturing takes place in the UK, Czech Republic, Japan and Korea. Edwards R&D technology centre and HQ is based in Burgess Hill, West Sussex. It employs about 900 people in the UK and approximately 7,000 people worldwide.
Successful E3 scholars will be linked to the Motors and Drives Group, which works alongside other technical design groups to develop electronic modules and embedded software for a diverse range of vacuum pump products and will be based in Eastbourne and Burgess Hill, West Sussex.
Edwards also has a Global Graduate Development Programme which enables successful candidates the opportunity to rotate around a division of Vacuum Technique (one of Atlas Copco's Business Area's) gaining experience and knowledge. The programme includes one international placement, alongside being supported and enabling graduates to work towards their professional chartership.
